The Director of the Conservatives campaign in Cannock Chase for the County Council elections is calling on Susan Woodward to confirm that she will serve a full four year term if she is able to retain her seat in June’s elections.
Mrs Woodward, the sitting councillor for Hednesford and Rawnsley, was recently selected to be the Labour Party candidate at the next election, which is being contested by Aidan Burley for the Conservatives.
“I think many people will be surprised that Susan Woodward has decided to seek re-election for the County Council”, said Gary Morgan, who is heading the Conservatives’ campaign in the District. “It could be that she accepts that she will not win the Westminster seat, and so wants a fallback position. However, if she does feel she can win, then it looks as if she is just treating the Hednesford & Rawnsley seat as a temporary job until something else comes along.
“The public needs to know whether Mrs Woodward is committed to serving the full term, if for no other reason than it is the Council Tax payer will have to pick up a bill for the by election if she chooses to resign in a few months.” |
